LOL Yah, sorry, was a little over excited last night.

Was planning on buying a Ninja 250, but after lots of reading etc I decided I should probably get a Ninja 500 (since I weigh almost as much as the 250 does lol) since I will be doing a ton of free-way commuting, and everyone is hell-bent on driving 85 MPH during my commute times. So, I took my wife to the Kawi dealer and showed her the bike, told her about the different things, etc...

But in the end she talked me out of the 500 and into this:

It's an 06 Ninja 650R. After reading a lot of reviews etc. (many of them claiming it was a good starter bike, oddly enough), I let her talk me in to it.

I cannot believe how much fun this thing is! And I haven't even had it out of the parking lot yet (been practicing turns, stops, etc. all day). I'm going to keep doing parking lot stuff to get as comfortable as possible with the bike, and then take the MSF course later in the month (the soonest they had available). I had no idea what a HUGE difference riding a bike would be, but I think I'm giong to really enjoy it.

We also picked up leather jackets, gloves, and helmets for the both of us. She's going to take the MSF course too so she can ride 2 up with me, and so she can ride it by herself eventually.

Yah, that's what I hear. And what I've noticed getting ready to get a bike... people don't pay attention to ANYTHING they're doing while they're driving for the most part. Which is scary enough in a car, let alone a bike. Definately hightens your senses riding on a bike like that.

very nice looking bike. you want to go riding sometime after you take the msf course? i took it last year. it was a very good class. I am planning to sharpen up my skills by taking the advance glass as soon as my bike is fixed. I am waiting for some parts from the ducati dealer.

BTW, do not let people ride your bike unless you know they are experienced. i made the mistake of letting my buddy take my bike for a spin. He even has his own bike which is much bigger than mine!!! I only had mine for 2 weeks when he layed it down. There was not even a car on the road when it happened. I was on my 250 and saw him dump my ducati 620 sport. It was like he ran into an invisible wall or something. anyway, be wary of who you let ride it.

Ouch! That stinks about your bike! We'll definately have to riding, it'd be fun! I've put about 130 miles on the bike so far, I'm hoping to have it broken in by the time I finish the course, but probably won't happen... if it doesn't, I should have it broken in shortly after, and we'll definately have to go ride!

They're having an advanced rider training in the beginning of July that I'd like to go to, but I'll probably wait until I have more miles under my belt.

i may sign up for that class depending on which weekend in july and if my bike is complete by then. the parts are shipped from italy which really sucks. it takes a long time because of customs. there is no ducati warehouse in n. america or canada anymore. my next bike will not be a ducati cause of this.

i guess i can ride my ninja if i still have it.

I'll be looking at some used Triumph Daytonas this spring, although I do like the looks of the Harley Sportster with drag bars  :metal:
