Some mods on the quad
« on: November 15, 2006, 10:10:32 pm »
Put some nerf bars on it, and painted the grill black.  What do you think?

Much better then the 3rd brake light - I tried to have patience on this one :)

Yes, re-re-geared.  Back to 38 in the back, and 15 now on the front.  I read that higher gears keep it in powerband better = faster.  We'll see.  Also have paddles coming.   Next mod is probably something like this: http://alba.buyol.com/Item/RAP700-PIPEKIT.htm  But I need the $ for that.

Mine wont ever be #1 or anything, but I just installed a pro-circuit full stainless exhaust system - REALLY nice quality - pretty happy with it.

Being that mine is an automatic (similar operation to snowmobiles) I bought a new clutch system for it which should really wake it up - also an airbox mob, and carb jets.  Just trying to wake mine up a bit.

I couldnt believe how easy the pipe was to install.  It literally took me 10 minutes start to finish - I love working on these things - simple, cheap, and open.

The exhaust should help, and I didn't know you could mod the auto like that.  That would be interesting.  What does it do?  Slip more or less?

The biggest mod for the auto allows it to downshift quicker (for climbing etc) to allow you to keep the wheel speed up.  The other end of the mod allows you to adjust the engagement point - (not an accurate example): lets say stock it engages at 1000 RPMs, but you can mod it to engage at 3,000.  I was surprised they were so customizable as well - and admitedly, I have a lot to learn about them still.  Its pretty cool if you dont like the engagement you went with, you just swap to a different spring and it changes things up, with minmal work.
