Swapping Drivetrain 3rd Gen & 4th Gen
« on: February 16, 2007, 05:47:52 pm »
I was wondering if anyone new whether or not you could do some swapping around of parts. I'll list below several swaps I'm thinking of.

 1) Switching out 3rd gen A-arms for 4th gen A-arms.
 2) Rear ends have already been done but I was thinking of also using 4th gen wheels to pull the tires back inside the body line on a 3rd gen.

Thats the reason for the first swap listed. Also was wondering about the fact that the 3rd gens are a few hundred pounds lighter. If that would be easier on the 4th gen rear end.

 3) Has anyone put a 3rd gen 9 bolt in a 4th gen. They are strong then 10 bolt 4th gens. Just wondering how much.

last summer I ran my 88 IROC-Z28 at the track and was pulling 1.9 60 ft's with slicks still spinning about 20 ft. It held up so I was wondering about putting that 9 bolt in the a 4th gen. Just wondering. I've heard of articles saying that they will take 450-550 hp. Anyone know for sure?.
