In need of a quality machine shop (willing to travel)
« on: August 08, 2005, 10:30:07 pm »
I will need to balance my new rotating assembly as well as clean and .30 over the block.  Are there any shops that can properly do this for an LT1 assembly?  What would the cost be to balance the rotating assembly and prep the blocK?

Thanks in advance,
JD

Call Steve Flatt in Orem - 801-434-4149

I personally think he's the best in the state. He's not as quick as some shops, but worth the wait. Give him a call and he can give you a price and such. Tell him Jeremy sent you.

I'd also recommend Dave Yeates at Pro Machine. Your not treated like just another dummy coming in there that doesn't know anything. They do great quality work, not just a machine shop that has some machinery and uses it. Their work comes back to you and it is quality all the way. They'll let you specifiy what you want if you know what you want or they'll recommend what they think you need if you don't know. They have your best interests in mind. Their number is 265-0959.

At this time I would recommend Earl @ Clegg's Machine in Orem. They have the best equipment and will be priced very fair. Also, your work will be completed quickly. Dave and Steve can also do you a great job but their equipment isn't as good as Earl's. Just my opinion. Tom

Yeah, and when they screw it up, they send it to C&T.  I don't know if Earl is the only one doing the balancing, but I have seen a few of their swiss cheese crankshafts.  No offense to Earl, I don't know him
