West Coast Road Trip!
« on: July 30, 2010, 11:53:48 pm »
So last month, into early this month, I went on a fantastic road trip from Utah to Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, Seaside Oregon, Vancouver Washington, Crater Lake Oregon.

11 days, drove almost 4,000 miles to the dot. Passed 10,000.0 miles, 11,111.1 miles, and 12,345.6 miles, and took pics of each one.
I filtered through my 2500 pictures and chose the best with my Camaro in them, and here they are below!

Some things I found out/did:
  • Found out San Francisco's roads are horrible in a nice Camaro. Potholes everywhere!
  • Drove literally the greatest road in my life: California's Highway 1 was spectacular, but on the northern-most part of it, far north of San Fran, highway 1 goes through the redwoods, over mountains, cuts away from the coast, and ends at hwy 101; probably 15 miles of this stretch. The speed limit is 55, but the road is so curvy, and steep in parts you won't hit 55, but you can if you want, cause thats the speed limit. There were probably a hundred curves with signs to take it at 20 or slower. It was literally the best road I've ever driven! And I've driven some sweet roads!
  • Found out my car is slow here in Utah. :(  It was so much fun, and noticeably faster near sea level. I knew it would be quicker, but it was so much more fun! The first time I hammered it at high altitude after, I was actually disappointed! Guess I need to get her tuned, and maybe some gears, to give me that extra umph!
  • Saw a least one of every color of new Camaro, except ABM, didn't see even one of them!
  • Up north, it almost seemed like a lot of people hadn't seen many Camaro's, I had many, many pictures taken of my Camaro, and made several boy's days, letting them sit in my car, etc. I'm sure there are several Camaro's, but from the reactions I got, it didn't seem like it.

All in all, it was absolutely fantastic, and I'd do it again, if I could get more time off.

Here are the pics, some are spectacular!
Feel free to use them however you want.

EEEEEwwww the bugs!

Nice pics though.  I've been to Crater lake when I was little, forgot how awesome it was.  I need to go back!

Too bad you didn't hit me up (I live in Vancouver, WA)  Looks like a fun trip, and yes Highway 101 in northern Cali is very nice.

Yeah, it was really fun!

I'd never been to Crater Lake before, and have always wanted too.  I've been to northern Oregon many times, but never made it to Crater.

Rockin, I knew you lived somewhere around there, but wasn't sure where.
The last half of the trip (San Fran to Utah) was really quick, I think it took me 4 days, to go the nearly 2000 miles, and that included all the stops, and slow roads...
