Awsome roy. You make me want to go buy parts for my car!! I didn't know you smacked a valve! My car had hone marks in the cylinder walls at 85k miles. I can't wait to see it run.

man..I got plenty of time then if that's the prediction!
Not sure when exactly, its been a game lately of work, get some money, order parts, wait, make progress and repeat.
I also have some undecided plans and ideas in the project that could take some time to iron out/make happen.  I am getting anxious to have it done though so I wont be dragging my feet or wasting any more time than I have too!

It needs to be done for spring Roy, I expect to see it at events.

The SS looks like it could kick your ass, the WS6 looks like it's coming over to do it!

Yeah should be done by then!  I don't expect anything to come up during the reassembly that will give me too much trouble but will see.

A couple of tools I got for the project from LS1 tech.  TIM'S TOOL that worked great for my valve spring swap and a tool for reinstalling the crank pulley.
Got some new LS2 lifter trays and vented the underside for oil draining, the trays in stock form have been found to pool up and collect oil, then increase the risk of oil starvation in high RPM and high G forces!  Probable wouldn't have seen a problem had I not done it but didn't hurt to do it while I was in there!
Had the lifters soak for a while, threw em back in and got the heads on!

Nice. Glad you got the holes drilled in the lifter trays. I was going to do it to my stock ones, but they were so brittle they broke. So I ordered replacements and left them alone :)

This process sucks doesn't it? I just wish I had everything needed in my hands. Keep up the good work

Been getting some more done here and there!
Rebuilt the rockers with the comp cams trunion upgrade   This setup is supposed to quiet down valvetrain noise as well as being less likely to spill its bearings into the motor like the stock rockers are known to do once in a while.  They are also considered a better setup than the high dollar aftermarket rockers on most setups.

Pics after getting the heads on, front cover and crank pulley back on and power steering back in order.  Found some PS fluid on the ground so might have created a leak during the project that I will have to look into later.

Did some parts cleaning before throwing more back on the car!
Radiator and fan back in as well as the water pump.
Time to wait for more parts now.

Not too hard to do just takes some time, a hammer, sockets, a vise and some snap ring pliers.

Hey Roy what clutch do you have in that beast?
:icon_lol: Stock clutch.....yea I know don't say it.  Probably will end up on the list for next winter.

Progress has been slow lately since the money is not flowing in well right now but have got a few more goodies on the car!
Full stainless from flange to tip  had to bend over for this setup but worth the money.
American Racing Headers 1 3/4 and their catted Y and the Magnaflow cat back to replace my POS Flowmaster.
Fitment, quality and install on these Headers was awesome, quality merge spike and the collector is of the high velocity design for great scavenging.

The Y is years ahead of the cheaper ones on the market where one pipe is just jammed into a hole cut on the other side ::)  its a nice merge that should cut down on the nasty rasp the LS1's are common to have with crappy Y merges!
Its also ovalized in a critical spot where its close to the floor for good ground clearance

Both the kooks and ARH headers use the same pipe configuration design that's based on the groto headers from years back.  The big difference between the two is the y-pipe.  I feel the ARH has a better merge and most find it tucks up a little better than the kooks on the LS1's too!
