So it has happened
« on: July 06, 2005, 01:23:48 am »
I hit a small patch of water earlier tonight, going around a curve and the rear slid one way, then the other, then the other, then by the time I was able to react, I slamed into a curb, jumped it, and flew into somebody's yard.  :'(

Known damage:  I bent at least two wheels, cracked the passenger front fender pretty good, and cracked my trans pan.  Hopefully that is the worst damage.  There are a few things like screwed alignment, leaking anti-freeze, and a few other smaller things, it is still driveable (with more fluids).

Luckily, nobody was hurt, and I didn't cause much additional damage, I put tracks in their grass, and knocked over a bush, and a couple little squirrel statues.

I had it towed to my work, so tomorrow I'll take it into the shop, and see what else happened.  Luckily I have some connections, so I can probably get parts/labor for less than the insurance will give me (hoping that there isn't too much damage).

I'll keep you informed.

Wow Jeremy...that sucks! Glad that you are alright and no one was hurt. You've put a lot of work into the car and you'll get it back on the road again soon. Let us know what all damage you find.

Thanks guys.  After a little more checking it out today, I saw that part of the k member is pushed in, making the right front wheel tilt pretty bad.

So, I'd like to put together a price list for a front performance suspension, to compare with stock.  Anybody have idea's?

Here are some pics of the damage

Took a closer look, and 3 wheels have dents in them; the k member, right knuckle, right front swaybar bracket, both rear axle shafts, and possibly the right front lower control arm are all bent; the right front fender is cracket and scratched; my deep trans pan (only the pan luickily) was bashed in; and the coolant resevoir has a small hole in it.  The turbo oil return line leaks a little too, but that is a quick easy fix.  The entrie rest of the turbo system is perfect, luckily.

I'm looking for prices and stuff to repair, (dont know if I'll claim it on insurance or not).
If you know a little about suspension, I need a little help in the tech section.
