Got a track toy
« on: February 20, 2011, 01:26:30 pm »
I bought a 2001 CBR F4i to take out to Miller this year.  Something I won't care too much about if I lay it down :)

Here is how it looked when I bought it:

The SS looks like it could kick your ass, the WS6 looks like it's coming over to do it!

99 Trans Am WS6 - a few mods ;)
06 YAMAHA Raptor
06 YAMAHA R1
01 Honda CBR F4i - track bike
05 Dodge Ram 2500

And here it is after I started tinkering with it :)

So far I have removed 7 lbs of stuff that I won't need on it in race trim.

Sorry your going to need some wheels, so they don't count towards your weight reduction LOL.  JK

LOOKIN' GREAT ! when do I get to take it up Redwood road ???

I've always been a sucker for CBR's (even though I'm a YAMAHA man) ... pretty much since this bike:

I know I'm old :(

:stupid:  Exactly.  I don't want to risk the R1 and be too scared of wrecking it to actually ride.

:)   It was a pretty fun day.

I rode 5 20 min sessions.  I definitely got better as the day went on :)  (to the point where I actually passed a few people :D)

A lot to learn still.  From looking at my pics my body positioning is way off.  Also, the suit was too stiff (I could hardly hang off the bike at all).

I found out the brakes on the CBR are not as good as I'm used to on the R1.  I couldn't drive too hard into a corner (had to slow down pretty early sometimes) because the brakes weren't there to slow me down enough.  Gotta work on that.

(I'll work on posting the vids)

Here is a vid - my 4th session:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVhoTqLVXpE

The first lap or two I was taking it easier for the tires.

Nice vid!  I'm sure you'd smoke me around that track, I have *0* nuts when it comes to getting the bike down low.  I found this video on the related page of your vid, and had to check it out as well due to the R1 :)  Probably the best perspective I've seen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPLhM6KYNpk

Don't worry Jeff.  I too have no desire to drag a knee.  Went out to a track day once.  I didn't get the adrenaline rush like I get from drag racing, so it isn't for me.
