New Members Introduction
« on: February 28, 2011, 10:00:55 am »
I figured i would post this for the new members to introduce themselves. Just post a little about yourself and what you drive and what you would hope to experience with joining this club. even if you have been a member for a really long time go ahead and post in here so we can meet everyone and get to know everyone. I will start.

My name is Herb i am originally from northeastern ohio. Owned my first camaro when i was 22 and paid 200 bucks for it. it was missing alot of parts and had a couple rod knocks. i ended up selling it about 2 months after i had it. i moved to utah in 2006 and bought my current car a little over a month ago. I drive a 87 z28 with a 305tpi motor and a 5spd trans mission. I hope to experience friendship and also some good times with this club and also getting to know everyone else.

So please chime in here and introduce yourself.

Looks like a nice build.  Any power numbers?
the motor in the car now put down 270rwhp and 370rwftlbs @9 psi with timing locked out to 10* btdc due to faullty wiring when i wired up the est bypass (wired it backwards and it wouldnt let megasquirt control the ignition timing)fixed that took it back to the track and ripped off a 12.3@116 still needs a lil more tunning

i just built a destroked motor for the car (twice) and had that dynoed (3.4 block 2.8 crank - 3.0L motor)

first dyno ended with a droped valve
blew up on the dyno @ 6,200-6,300 rpms and hp was still climbing at that point

481 hp @ 6,200 rpms
438 ftlbs @ 5,300 rpms

these numbers were at 16 psi from a ebay gt45 turbo

had to replace the block one of the pistons and the head
redynoed it

539hp @ 7400 rpms
478ftlbs @ 6100 rpms

22 psi ebay gt45

basic specs on it are
its a 3.4L v6 destroked to 3.0L
custom j.e forged pistons 11.03-1 cr
ported stock iron heads
custom solid roller cam  278/268 on 114lsa .550/.550 lift
ported lower intake with a custom sheetmetal plenum
85# injectors
e-85 for fuel
ebay gt45  upgrading to an S475

unfortunately when i built this engine i was able to get e-85 since moving here i havent seen one place to get e-85 so the motor is pretty much useless here, unless u can get e-85 in the southern utah area

ill start a build thread of both cars ie got tons of pics and vids and some dyno sheets

That's just insane. Your 6 will run circles around my car. Gotta love the boost. And since I'm posting, might as well follow suit. My name is Derek. On F body #2. First was the car in my sig. 2001 SS Camaro. Auto trans, had almost every extra from SLP. Its life was cut short by a Cavalier running through the intersection I was in. Bought the 92 RS I'm building now right before the SS was totaled. Come from a long line of F body owners. Dad had 3 first gens, brother had a few second and third gens and now the 2 I've owned.

Landun Burr here, I live I Clinton, my first car was a 71 Nova which I still have. Ive been through a few vehicles (gst eclipse, 300zx blah blah) but one of my favorites was my 88 iroc z28. Wish I never sold it but that's life. I drive a black 97 ws6 with 58k miles. It's all stock except magnaflow exhaust(don't think that's stock), and my 71 c20. I work at hill air force base on swing shift 2:30pm-1:00am. So if there is anything going on during the week I won't be able to make it. I'm 26 yrs old, married, 3 month old son. Other than that I'm excited to be part of the club and meet new people and have some good times. Any questions feel free to ask. I'm on facebook and my cell is 801-791-0515.

Of the ones on that list, Santaquin is your closest (if you're in Beaver).... but I live very near there - I'll have to cruise over and check their pumps.  Had no idea i could get e85 there.

P.S.

I'm Jeff - been in the UFBA since '99, been running the forum / site since then as well.  I dont currently have an F-Body, but I've owned a '94 Z28 (383 w/ 100 shot of N20), and a '97 1LE (Stock motor w/ Vortech Blower @ 6#s).  Sold the '97 last, and got an '05 R1.  Looking to get a 5th gen now though.....  :metal:

well i did you a favor and called the dmv for you. In beaver county all that is required for you t o register your vehicle is a safety inspection. to pass the safety inspection you need to make sure that tires are good, hoses are good. doors and latches and door handles, brakes, suspension, make sure the hood closes correctly and tightly, suspension, lighting(headlights, taillights, dash lights, make sure tint is not too dark, seatbelts basically everything to make your car safe to be on the road. hope that helps

thanks out of thatlist im only concerned about the hood, its a bolt on harwood but i had to remove the saftey latch to clear my intercooler, hopepfully a set of hoodpins will alow that to pass. other then that ill prolly just have to reinstall the driver side seatbelt new jersey wouldnt allow a 5pt harness inplace of the stock seatbelt so id have to remove the harness and put the stock belt back in for inspection.

my tint is 5% on both side windows but ill remove that its to dark for nighttime anyway and retint it with 10%

only other thing is my ex is a side exit infront of  the passenger side rear tire hopefully they dont give me hell about that

and thanks for getting the info for me

well you dont have to worry about emissions and i think the harnes will be ok it is a seatbelt so it should be fine. and the hood might be ok as well seeing how the hood is latched down and does not come blow off it should be fineif you call 801-965-4889 that is the safety comission or highway patrol i am not sure but they can let you know for sure what is needed and you can tell them what you have

no emissions is a plus i used to have to slip the guy 200 bucks every 2 years to get my car to pass
ill deff give them a call to find out about the hood and the harness cause i really hate to install hoodpins, as far as the harness nj's rulling on it was since they are not dot aproved (even though they are safer) they wouldnt pass the harness car had to have the stock dot aproved seat belts

The Harness will fail. I had to take mine out and put the stock ones in for inspection. Also the horn has to work and the windshield wipers and sprayer need to work.  I have failed for all 3 of those before. On my 69 Camaro I had 4 hood pins on a fiberglass scoop hood, it passed but it was several years ago. (over 20) so that may have changed. Also the exhaust tail pipe has to clear the car. Like no dumps after the muffler under the car, it will fail. And no larger displacement. I.E. if it came with a V6 you can't have a V8 in the car. But a larger V6 is fine and N2O, blowers, turbo etc is fine. No CARB standards where you live.

Larger motor is an I/M issue not a safety issue.

I checked that santaquinn chevron and they do have e85 but it looks like they were out
