Well that sucks
« on: July 23, 2011, 10:39:41 am »
Long story short, I lost 2nd gear. There's either something wrong with the servo and or 2nd gear band. The car won't shift to 2nd manually either. It skips from 1st to 3rd...NO GOOD!!!  :noes: :chairshot: I am waiting to hear back on the quote for a trans build... :metal:  Time to fully build this bish LOL

That sucks.  I have a friend that recently has started his own business on rebuilding T56's.  If your willing to ship it, he does excellent work and is reasonable on his prices.  He has a 97 Camaro with an LSx swap.  You can email him at sales@quickshift-performance.com or visit his website at the same web address, just let him know that Cody sent you.

That sounds awesome and thanks for the reference, but I have an A4.

There's a price to be paid,  with force inducting a vehicle with some miles. I have the money to fix it....do I spend the money though? But then again, do I have a choice? LOL

Exactly!
My engine (both head gaskets to be exact) was the first to go, rebuilt it to handle it.
Then the somewhat freshly rebuilt tranny went, put a new one in to handle it.
But now the turbo's done (even before the original diff  :o ).

So idunno what to do now, spend $1k for new turbo and blow off vavle,  ???

Oh lord...how I feel your pain. If isn't one thing, it's another. What turbo(s) are you running?

Its just a single STS GT67 turbo.
When you're expecting it, its really not that bad though, so I'm cool with it.
Now just gotta decide what to do with it.  :-\

Can you go bigger...turbo wise? From what I hear, rear mounts are just a little bit more laggy than a front mount kit. Maybe you should just rebuild it, or go with a PTE76 or something.

Yeah, idunno if I can go bigger, as long as it connects, I don't see why not, I have the engine to handle it...
It has a little more lag, but not much, but that's the reason behind the 383 stroker, big power before the turbo kicks in :metal:

The main thing holding me back is that I'd rather put the money into my 5th gen,
I have a large exspensive list of things to do with it...  ;D

Well the verdict is in....my Yank converter has to be rebuilt. The clutches are gone and there are problems with the piston. I know what caused this [insert] angry face [/anger].  Will find out what's up with the trans later today.

Well, 2nd gear band was destroyed and I think the build cost for the trans...beefed up, is around $1800. The converter is $325 for rebuild.  But this is all a guesstimate LOL.

Im thinking torque converter locked while tuning? Hmmmmm... :sherlock:

The car is currently back on the road and being broken in. It's got the following parts:
-Heavy Duty 3-4 clutch
-Heavy duty sprag
- B shell (thicker)
- Revline clutches
- TransGo shift kit
- Upgraded servo
There are a few other things I am probably missing.  But all in all, I am happy with the build. The car runs and shifts great now. Can't wait to open her up.
