BANSHEE ... again (2nd time)
« on: September 11, 2011, 02:34:27 pm »
Frist set of pistons lasted 9 years, this set 2.5 :(

I developed a air leak from a loose intake boot bolt, went lean, and took out the LH piston top ring  :sherlock:

Nope, just reassemble as a 355 cc instead of a 352 :)

So far nobody has beat me up the hill, that other oil burner of "jockey" Chad's has potential I hear, BUT Duvall's car might be running 8's before Chad's wheeler ever sees the sand again  :llama:

I think it might be more fun for him, unless I get too take the spinny exhaust thing off his first ...

He aborted the turbo setup. They aren't worth it on a single cylinder. He is still running a power adder though ;)

We need to plan another UFBA dune trip!

Either way Power adder > N/A

Dune trip ... St. Anthony October 15th or October 22nd (prob 15th pending Banshee running)

Made progress :) BUT got held up on parts :( SO ... I had to ride a borrowed Raptor 660 for the dunes :( It was slow :( Not even CLOSE to the performance of Sad's Rapppy 700, I think it must be pretty worn out, at least I got to ride the dunes I suppose  :beerchug:

At one time I had considered a 660, ( I am a carb man) ... BUT not anymore, 2006 or newer for my Raptor ;)

Been thinking about finding another Banshee myself. I've had a few over the years, but havent had any offroad toys this summer. I'll be looking for something cheap with a blown motor to put together by spring I think. I'll always love the 2-stroke

Sounds like your valves are out of adjustment, you should get those checked out.

;)

You are correct  :flipoff: Well not really, BUT although up and running earlier that day it failed it's pressure check :( ... So a few parts and 2 heli-coils later, it held 6.4 PSI for over and hour

The main leak:

Pressure held:

So now it's back together AGAIN ! ... runs FAST !!! and hopefully won't be back apart soon

OOh interesting, those 2 strokes are such a mystery to me, im tempted to get a banshee just to toy with it.  I understand how they work but i have no idea how to properly tune them / mod them LOL.

They are VERY easy to work on ! And sorta fun unless you are doing things for the 3rd time like I was ;)
