At this point,I would prefer to sell the whole car,If he wants the motor-trans he will probably want wiring/computer,misc accesories ? Everything as a package for $3500.00,can run and drive or $4500.00 for whole car, drive it home !

KHOAS' response:

About your wrecked pic - "Oh God in heaven.....yeah that'll buff right out."

"I'm talkin with my old man if it'd be feesible to buy that sucker, but at a $10,000 estimate to fix, I dunno if it'd be worth it. Even at $3500 for the drivetrain, that'd still be so  hard to swallow. I'm still trying to get my money back from the first guy with the LT1, and only after that could I even think about buying the LS1. Knowing me, I'd want everything off that car - dash, console, seats, engine, trans, rear end....the response from my dad is "You'd be better off buying something else that looks good and runs for that much money! All that money JUST to swap in parts into the IROC??" He's saying I'd be better off buying a 94-97 4th gen.

I'm thinking he's pretty right about now. Anyone got any suggestions?"

Remember, the estimate is for a body shop to replace EVERTHING damaged in the accident with NEW GM parts. The hood alone on this car lists at 2000.00,add in 2 headlight assy, bumper cover, fenders and misc parts and there are approx 5500 in NEW parts. Now if you were somewhat handy, you might pay to have just the core support replaced,do the bolt on parts yourself, purchase an aftermarket ram air hood, some used headlight assy(I have one already, just bought today) and be on the road for around 6-6500 fixed. I know its possible,as I said, car runs and drives now, does NOT leak coolant, fans are broken(at least the bracket is) but is well worth putting back on the road. Besides, front damage is a good escuse for custom paint ! Feel free to come look at the car, make me an offer,I am going to start collecting parts, will make someone a good deal !

"If you could get me his email addy, I'd like to see what's up and maybe make him an offer."

Highpockets - do you have an email address that he can chat with you on, or is the one in your profile good (AOL)?  Please let me know and I can forward it to him.

Thanks!
