Midnight Drags 8 JUL
« on: July 08, 2005, 09:50:40 am »
I am takeing the Camaro to RMR tonight.

I called Dr Gas about Re-Dynoing the Camaro with the new tune,  they will have the Dyno at RMR tonight.

Then after the Dyno session I plan on running the Midnight Drags.

It's time to see what a 4,000 pound  Camaro will do in the 1/4.

Well not as good as I was looking for. :P

Here is one Time slip the others won't scan.

The 1st Run was going so so, until I grabed 5th instead of 3rd and realised I left the traction control on. Smoked the crap out of the Clutch. Lame Old Driver anyway. :( The 2nd Run I over staged backed up and got the lights. Then I was slow getting it up to 3,000 rps when the tree started. I bogged bad out of the hole and the gear change to 3rd went badly again.

 1st Run: RT...1.227, 60'...2.227, 330...5.979, 1/8...9.039, MPH...77.50, 1000...11.817, 1/4...14.185, MPH...94.49

 2nd Run: RT....0.861, 60'...2.838, 330...7.331, 1/8...10.58, MPH...72.81, 1000...13.637, 1/4...16.305, MPH...86.83

 3rd Run: RT...0.484, 60'...2.365, 330...6.272, 1/8...9.389, MPH...78.56, 1000...12.017, 1/4...14.201, MPH...102.92

That's cool man. My first time at the track didn't go well either! What did you put down as far as numbers go? The Cops up here had a lot of fun driving your car around during the cruise in!  ;)

Oh the Numbers...DR Gas Failed to show up. ???

I had talked to them that morning and they said they would be there. RMR had a spot set aside for them also.

I'm off this next Friday so I will try again then. So for now here is the last Dyno sheet I have.

Car looked great out there. I saw the best run listed and I don't understand why that car didn't trap ~10-15mph faster. How much faster do you think a solid run will go?

You should take it out to a Wednesday Test N Tune.  It would give you a good opportunity to adjust to the new found power you have :)  I used to hot lap the wednesday TnTs.  Getting 10+ runs in before I got tired of racing and went home well before things shut down.

I think with some more seat time behind the beast, youll be SMOKIN!

The best part about your times is that it makes SAD's 60' foot times look GOOD!

Yes before the Turbo. It weiged 4,040 Lbs with me in it. Also it's geared pretty high. I assume that the 60' times are killing me.

I could take about 100 to 150 pounds out of it easy enuff..... Laptop, Printer, Guns, Road Spikes, Flares, and other Police stuff. That and with my mobile detailing shop
supplys.

I need a better clutch and a 12 bolt rear end, possabily with a lower gear ratio?

He puts semi wax sticky tape covering all the  uhp signs so you cant see them  he dont drive it marked    which  isnt illeagle  But  it is a fully functional police cruiser  and they do borrow it from him  and use it ..   (without the covering stickers)

Yes they have to be covered.  I believe he has a specially made vinyl cover for them the straps on them.  Hopefully Craig will chime in to correct any mistakes.

OK Heres the deal again. Short Story.

No I am not a sworn UHP Trooper. In a past life I was a DOD Cop. I Retired from the Army in 1995 and presently drive for DATS Trucking.

I became interested in UHP cars in 1995. I restored a 1992 Mustang and a 1992 Camaro to there in service condition(photo attatched) . The 2002 Camaro is a special project that I became interested in doing, as 2002 was the last year for the Camaro.

All the equipment is fully funcitional and the car is used by the UHP at times. Mainly for Parades, Displays and other Public Relations Events. I do a few National Police Car shows every year. I have yet to Fail to take best of show although I don't do well at regular car shows.

The car and all the equipment was paid for by me and no ones Tax Dollars.

Other than Car Shows or in a Parade when I'm driveing it the markings are covered (3M Automotive Proctive Tape) and I run my Lic Plates. The Lights are clear until they are powered up so there are no Red/Blue lights to cover. I do have a cover for ther Light Bar for long Trips mainly to keep the bugs off and to prevent the lens from getting pits.

Why would some one spend that kind of money on a Police Car? I like it and it's fun for me. Other People have a Grundle of Cash tied up in Boats, Horses, 4 Wheelers or whatever.
