Anyone know Phantom Motorsport's number or hours?
« on: December 30, 2005, 08:18:44 pm »
The 383 is almost done and should be on the road next week. I would like to basically drive it straight to phantom and make 100% the air/fuel is perfect. I have tried dropping by a couple times about a month ago and no one was there. I tried calling...same thing. Anyone know how to get ahold of them?
Thanks.

They have not responded to 2 letters I sent regarding the damage they did to my car when it was dyno'ed.  I guess next comes a certified letter and small claims court or a lawyer.  They have not acted like responsible businessmen.

Well I know for a fact you will not win that battle.  Jason has a sign up in his shop that says not responsible for damage done while dynoing your car.  I dont mean to sound like an a** but you should probably not dyno your car if scared something is going to happen to it.  That is why you dyno at your own risk.  Jason is not liable for that damage it could happen to anyone.

Putting a sign up does not excuse negligent actions, as any lawyer can tell you.

The damage was done by the person in the shop who placed the restraining straps over the brake wires.  It was not done by the dyno process itself.  The straps were improperly applied.  Care was not taken to place the straps only over the axle.  Therefor this was not damage that could happen to anyone.  It is damage that would not have happened if the straps were properly applied, and the test was properly run.  This is a very different situation than if the damage was done during dynoing, as a result of the dyno process alone.

Whatever the problem, mature, responsible businesses and business persons always will respond to their customers complaints, not just ignore them.  I am more upset by being ignored than I was by the damage itself.  I wasn't even upset at first, because I know he just goofed and goofs can happen to anyone.  But when your goof does damage you should at least talk to the person and see what you can do to make it right.  That's just ethical living.

I would have been willing to discuss and negotiate something like reimbursement in kind or service so they were not out any money, but their choosing to ignore complaints and concerns of a customer shows bad faith and bad business practice, IMO.

I don't want to turn this into a big public debate, I just want to warn others that this appears to be a business that does not address customer complaints.  I have spoken with several people who are much more knowledgeable than I about this type of business, who have recommended NOT using this particular shop.
Dr. Gas has been recommended to me as being better.

Well I guess that is your personal opinion About the shop.  Jason has done many great things for the fbody club and has never had a problem with the club.  So what you are trying to say is if I were to have my car on Jasons dyno and he were to hook up the rpm wire up on my plug wires and accedently pull my plug wire off and I didn't know and it blew my motor up(Because I was running on 7 cylinders) It would be his fault?  Well his sign states DYNO AT YOUR OWN RISK NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGE DONE WHILE DYNOING!  Well I would have to say that hooking a car up on the dyno is part of the process.  Jason Has hooked up well over 600 camaros and trans ams and never had a problem.  IT sure is funny to how all these people you have spoke with that have said don't use that shop.  But how many of these shop are Nationally ranked racers(Sport Compact 9.69@ 154 in a honda Del Sol)?  He must be doing something right.

Regardless if he is or if is he not responsible for the damage - not responding to a customers complaint says something about the way a business is run.

Especially a customer that was there for a UFBA Dyno day.....

What if this had been work he had them do on his car?  What if that work they did on his car wasnt what they agreed on, or wasnt done right?  Would that be ignored as well?
